Keira was a girl like many others, but there was something in her eyes…
She was silently swimming, very concentrate on every movement, trying not to think. She had so many thoughts that she felt like she was sinking in them. One, two, three, breath. The pool was almost full, the kids were screaming and laughing, everyone seemed to enjoy the cold water and the warm air. Everyone but her. Not that she didn’t like to swim, but she was trying to swim away from her painful past and every stroke was like a step forward. One two three…breath.
Keira was so concentrate that she couldn’t even see the people around her, or maybe she didn’t want to. She was afraid that they could look deeply in her soul and understand everything. She was afraid that they could notice that she was unhappy. Happiness… when was the last time she was really laughing? She could remember, but it was the last good memory before the tempest. Just before the tragedy, she felt like in heaven. There were just happy smiles and warmth and… him. One, two, three… breath.
He was totally unexpected in her life. First there was a coffee, then a walk around and many talks. He made his way into her brain and then he kissed her. They both knew that there was no time for them, but it felt nice to be together, just for a while. When he finally left, Keira felt alone like she’d never felt before.
One, two, three, breath.
And then the accident. That was not exactly unexpected, but when it came… it was pain. He was already just a memory, but she was still waiting for something to happen. Then the accident changed everything and he took away what was remaining of her… the hope.
So she was there, swimming away from his memory, her past, but she couldn’t forget that last smile. She couldn’t forget that there was a time when she was happy. One, two, three… breath.
Keira was a girl like many others, but there was something in her eyes… they were tears.
